Founders of WDAP

Elliott Jenkins and Thorne Donnelley, two socially prominent young Chicagoans and radio enthusiasts who started the experimental station that would eventually become WGN Radio. While driving past the Wrigley Building, Jenkins decided it would be a good location for a radio laboratory. About a week later, Donnelley had assembled the equipment they would need to build the station and construction began. Their early programming consisted of talks, weather reports, and concerts. Following storm damage at the Wrigley Building, Jenkins and Donnelley moved the operation to the Drake Hotel.
