Farmers beware: Thefts of GPS receivers from tractors

The Business of Food with Steve Alexander

The yellow dome-shaped unit atop the John Deere tractor cab contains the GPS unit that provides auto-steer capability. Thieves are selling them on the internet for up to $9,000 (Photo is property of and provided by John Deere).

To celebrate Earth Day, Steve Alexander talks about record prices paid for earth — farmland in Iowa. Also, thieves are stealing valuable GPS receivers right off the top of John Deere tractors on northern Illinois farms. James Kennedy, a sales rep at Buck Brothers John Deere in Hampshire, Illinois, joined Steve to explain.
