Dave Hoekstra examines the history of Chicago’s most prolific nightlife district, Rush Street with a panel that includes former FACES GM/impresario Jimmy Rittenberg, Gibson’s owner Steve Lombardo, Tavern on Rush owner Marty Gutilla, cabaret queen Denise Tomasello, and vocalist David Floodstrand, who is organizing the Rush Street Reunion, a tribute to the music and Rush Street experience of the 70’s and 80’s.

The owners discuss how much the street has changed since the heyday of FACES, the difference in demographic between nightlife on Rush and other streets like Division, how the cost of live music influenced many spots to go “disco” and more.  Tomasello talks about navigating the male-dominated club scene as a woman, Floodstrand talks about his effort to capture Rush Street history in print, and more.

The Rush Street Reunion takes place on 8/14 at The Joynt (440 N. State)
