The International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago’s Gold Coast traces the history of medicine. It demonstrates, in sometimes graphic detail, that while medicine has come a long way over thousands of years, developments have not always been in a straight line. The museum is housed in an historic mansion and also hosts displays of contemporary art.
