Recently, a bizarre online craze of people singing traditional sea shanties took over the social media platform TikTok. To get to the bottom of it, John Landecker welcomes Kathy Whisler, organizer of the Chicago Shanty Sing, to explain the history and style of the sea shanty and show how the cultural tradition survived into the modern day.
