Alan Kalter, the announcer on “The Late Show with David Letterman” from 1995 to 2015, died today at the age of 78. In October 2014, as Letterman was beginning his final season, Kalter joined Bob Sirott and Marianne Murciano to reminisce about his 20 years behind the microphone, including why he took the job and how it evolved into an on-camera role.
