One person dead, two others missing after explosion at silicone plant rocks northern suburbs

One person is dead, two others are missing following a massive explosion at AB Specialty Silicones in Waukegan that was heard and felt miles away Friday night. Six others were injured with four treated at hospitals and two at the scene. The building suffered heavy damage in the explosion and resulting fire. Five surrounding buildings were also damaged. The search has currently been suspended according to Waukegan Fire Marshal Steve Lenzi due to the unsafe condition of the remaining structure. Crews are awaiting heavy equipment to remove some of the debris so they can resume their search.
