D-3 District Congressman Dan Lipinski and Deputy Governor Christian Mitchell

Statehouse Reporter for Illinois Public Radio/WUIS Amanda a Vinicky fills in for The Sunday Spin: Politics Rick Pearson. (WGN Radio)

Amanda is joined by  Illinois Third Congressional District representative Dan Lipinski.  Congressman Lipinski serves on two committees: Transportation & Infrastructure and Science, Space, & Technology. Dan was able to get multiple bills signed into law, including legislation that create jobs by requiring a nationwide strategic plan to formulate  every four years. Lipinski is optimistic the House will do some kind of an infrastructure bill, also talks about the shutdown: what’s it like negotiating with President Trump? Have you tried?

Then Deputy Governor Christian Mitchell stops in the skyline studio to talk why he give up being an elected state representative to become a deputy governor? What does a deputy governor even do? Not an official title, per the constitution or anything. You’re one of several – how will it be divvied up? Does extra pay; concern about wealth in politics?
