Happy Father’s Day! On this very special edition of The Sunday Spin, as we broadcast for the very last time from the iconic Tribune Building, our guests include:

Rick Pearson talks with Democratic State Sen. Don Harmon of Oak Park about legislation that would allow expansion of the use of medical marijuana as an alternative to the highly addictive and deadly opiods. Don explains the many benefits of using medical marijuana instead of opiods can have including accessibility for those that qualify, lowering the number of deaths by overdose, improvement of the patient’s condition(s), and more.

Next, Rick chats with Illinois Senate Republican leader Bill Brady of Bloomington about the return to a feeling of normalcy with the bi-partisan state budget in the midst of a big political election year. Bill also touches on the the fall campaigns and what aspects of the budget he believes will heavily influence the candidates’ strategies.

Then, Rick speaks with Christopher Mooney, Political Scientist at the University of Illinois Chicago about the pressure set on Governor Bruce Rauner to get a balanced budget put together in order to have a chance for re-election. Chris speaks on the other factors that Bruce is facing including the idea of graduated income tax, legionnaires’ outbreak at Quincy, and more.
