On this edition of The Sunday Spin:

Rick Pearson talks with Bill Fleischli, Executive Vice President of the IL Petroleum Marketers Association and the Illinois Association of Convenience Stores, about his groups’ opposition to a move that would raise the state age for purchasing tobacco products. Bill believes that by raising the state age for the entire state, it will run money and business away as people will then travel to border states to purchase their products.

Next, Rick is joined by Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza to discuss the recently passed state budget and the continued backlog of unpaid bills to providers of State services. Susana also touches on transparency legislation that she heavily supported and was approved by the General Assembly on a Bi-Partisan basis. The legislation allows taxpayers to know where money is being spent and creates a space for the governor to be held accountable.

Then, Rick speaks with Republican State Rep. and member of the IL Bicentennial Commission, Tim Butler. This upcoming December marks the 200th Year Anniversary of the state of IL and Tim shares the many activities and events taking place to celebrate.
