Mix it up: Everything you need to know about the Chicago Margarita Festival
Alex Blackshire, Event Coordinator for the Chicago Margarita Festival, joins Steve Dale as he fills in on The Matt Bubala Show to talk about the upcoming event and drink recipes.
Blackshire says his passion for making good drinks started in college. His Spanish professor told him “the best way to learn a language is to come to the bar.” He previously went to Tampa Bay and had an extravagant festival there with fireworks. Since the turnout was so great, he decided that Chicago would be a great location as well.
The Chicago Margarita festival will be July 28-29 at Navy Pier. Food will be catered by the staff at Navy Pier along with a variety of tequila. Blackshire says people are “starting to look at tequila differently.” There will be three sessions: 11am-6pm, 7pm-12am on Saturday and 12pm-7pm on Sunday. Fireworks and live music will also be provided. For more information on admission costs or Uber/Lyft discount code, visit chicagomargaritafestival.com. To get access to Blackshire’s recipes, tune in to the video on Steve’s Instagram or listen to the podcast where listeners ask advise and Roger Badesch gives his thoughts on taste testing drinks in the studio.
