Dave Hoekstra previews his upcoming book, The Camper Book: A Celebration of a Movable American Dream, which details Dave’s travels exploring the country in his custom camper van ‘Bluebird’.  As part of his study of the history and culture of campers and life on the road, he brings in photographer Jon Sall, who captured the many legs of the trip on film and Cooperstown natives Juli and Dwaine Sherratt, who maintain their own ‘field of dreams’ in baseball’s Mecca; chef Brad Knaub of Oak Park’s Carnivore talks food trucks and artisinal SPAM, and Airstream of Chicago GM Steve Koche talks about some of the purchase and rental options that Chicagoland campers can take for a spin this summer.

Don’t miss the release party for The Camper Book on Sunday 6/3 at FitzGeralds in Berwyn, featuring food from Carnivore, music, cold beer and plenty of vintage and custom vans.
