Justin Kaufmann and Fred Wesley

Legendary bandleader, trombonist and author Fred Wesley joins Justin to reflect on his amazing career as one of the forefathers of funk. Mr. Wesley talks about what he remembers about coming to Chicago throughout his brilliant career, when he started playing the trombone, making the transition from playing jazz and blues to funk, playing with James Brown, the importance of a sidemen to the band, relishing taking musical risks, working with George Clinton and Count Basie (and pretty much everyone, ever), his relationship to blues music and headlining the Chicago Blues Festival on Saturday night.
