Justin Kaufmann and Marquis Hill

Chicago-born Jazz musician and trumpeter Marquis Hill joins Justin to talk about his career in music, when he decided to pick up the trumpet, the influence Chicago has on his music, playing with the legendary Von Freeman, splitting his time between Chicago and New York City, his upcoming record, “The Way We Play” and his show this weekend at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with his group Blacktet. We also hear Marquis (with Juan Pastor on percussion) play the Charlie Chaplin song, “Smile.”
