Michael James, co-founder of the Rogers Park restaurant Heartland Cafe (and the unofficial mayor of Rogers Park), joins Justin to talk about his career, the history of Rogers Park, running the iconic restaurant, the role the Heartland played in activism, counterculture and politics, why he decided to leave, his photography exhibit, “Pictures From The Long Haul,” the importance of a progressive movement in Chicago and what the city means to him.
