As the presidential race heats up and Illinois’ March 15 primary election draws near, we have plenty to talk about this Sunday.

First up on the agenda, we’ll take our weekly spin through national politics which includes the South Carolina Democratic primary, the heated Republican debate, Obama on Gitmo and Senate GOP leaders saying no Obama Supreme Court appointee will be considered.

Then, Tribune political team reporter Hal Dardick joins the show. Hal’s been keeping close tabs on the Democratic primary for the Cook County State’s Attorney nomination with incumbent Anita Alvarez and challengers Kim Foxx and Donna More.

After Hal, Brad Cole, the former mayor of Carbondale who is executive director of the Illinois Municipal League chimes in. He will discuss the muni league unveiling of its Springfield legislative agenda–which includes items as a result of the continuing statelment at the Statehouse.

And wrapping up the show, State Rep. Lou Lang of Skokie, a top leader of the majority Democrats in the chamber, joins the show. We’ll talk to him about the continuing impasse, the danger facing Illinois’ public institutions of higher education and whether there’s any way out of the mess.
