Rick Kogan

Rick Kogan talks with Christine Kenny, Executive Director of Literacy Works and Shannon Callahan, Director of Adult Education/Employment of the Howard Area Community Center about the stigma of literacy issues among adults -especially those in the process of learning English – the importance of literacy programs for people of all ages in the Chicago area, and the “devastating financial situation” developing for these programs due to the state budget impasse.

Literacy Works is holding their “A Book that Changed My Life” event on October 22 at the Hideout Chicago pop-up location on the Chicago River Walk.  The fundraiser features a slate of speakers talking about the most important books in their lives.
