The Cubs’ 25-man roster is set and now we wait for the lineup.

Joe Maddon elected to go with 10 pitchers and 15 position players.

Pitchers:

Kyle Hendricks, RHP

Clayton Richard, LHP

Jon Lester, LHP

Travis Wood, LHP

Pedro Strop, RHP

Jake Arrieta, RHP

Justin Grimm, RHP

Trevor Cahill, RHP

Hector Rondon, RHP

Fernando Rodney, RHP

Position Players:

David Ross

Quintin Berry

Chris Coghlan

Javier Baez

Tommy La Stella

Kyle Schwarber

Starlin Castro

Chris Denorfia

Kris Bryant

Addison Russell

Dexter Fowler

Austin Jackson

Anthony Rizzo

Miguel Montero

Jorge Soler

So, the Cubs stay with three catchers in Ross, Montero and Schwarber. That was expected. Quintin Berry snagged a roster spot and his ability to swipe a base may be needed if the game is as close as many suspect.

Jorge Soler almost assuredly won’t start but his pop of the bench may help frighten the Pirates bullpen in a late pinch hit spot.

Expect to see Javier Baez worked in at some point as well. The question is where. Will he take over for Starlin Castro at second base if the Cubs have a lead? Will he head to third to relieve Tommy La Stella if the Pirates go to the pen for a lefty? Either way, Maddon loves Baez’s glove.

The biggest concern is how long Kyle Schwarber can stay in the ball game. Austin Jackson is the prime candidate to come in and re-shuffle the outfield at some point tonight but when and how may depend on whether the Cubs can get to Gerrit Cole.

More as the day goes on and lineups get posted.
