Zachary Fardon, 46, is a former federal prosecutor and was a key member of the team that helped convict former Gov. George Ryan.

He’ll replace Patrick Fitzgerald, who stepped down last June as the longest serving U.S. attorney in Chicago history.

Fardon won out over Lori Lightfoot, who could have been the first female and African-American U.S. attorney in Chicago.
