Here
is a poem written about our lovable Cubbies after their heart-breaking
game 7 loss as read by John on the show:
The Loveable
Losers are losers again.
They gave it their best, but the Cubs couldn't win.
A fan in the stands has been blistered with blame.
But his reach for the ball didn't cost them the game.
The bullpen was shaky. They left men on base.
Those may be the facts, but the Marlins had grace.
The Billy Goat curse has been cited for cause.
But that can't account for our day-after blahs.
It's Alex! It's Carlos! No, Dusty's the one!
If they hadn't blown it, our team would have won.
We love to find scapegoats when we're feeling peeved.
When questioned by God, Adam pointed at Eve.
In life and in baseball we all pass the buck.
But that's not the answer when we're feeling stuck.
Let's live with our losses and look to what's next.
It's lame to blame others or point to some hex.
