Q&A
Q: Can you tell me
about the American bulldog? — T.S., Cyberspace
A: To some, this
pooch doesn’t even look like its more popular cousin, the lumbering English
bulldog (or just plain bulldog). The American bulldog stands 22 to 28
inches and is 90 to 135 pounds, or about three times as tall and twice
the weight of its more well-known bulldog cousin. Very much unlike that
stout cousin, the American bulldog is a robust, athletic, leggy, deep-chested
dog. Their short hair comes in many color varieties, including shades
of brown and liver with or without white, brindle, all white and all black.
It’s amazing how
some breeds magically catch on, and that’s happening to the American bulldog.
The United Kennel Club just accepted this breed for registration. For

Outpost Web site at www.outpostnet.com/americanbulldog.html.
