Drop-Off Sites for
Hurricane Relief

This page is for drop-off locations. Local fundraising events can be found in a special edition of the WGN Radio Community Calendar.

Thanks to all of our listeners who dropped off supplies at Miles and Amy's home (click here to see pictures from the drop-off) (click to hear audio segments). They are continuing to plan drop-off events. Go to http://www.filltheirtruck.org/pages/howtohelp.html for a list of dates and locations.

  • South Suburban Public Action to Deliver Shelter is housing about 120 individuals at the Tinley Park Mental Health Center. Supply and cash donations are being accepted and volunteers are needed. For a list of needed items and more information, visit www.sspads.org.
  • Port Barrington Bar & Grill/Snake Alley Customs/Port Barrington Motor Sports - 99 Kazimoiur Dr. - Port Barrington, IL 60010 - 847-382-8866 or 847-381-2500 for directions - located: off of River Road between Roberts and Kelsey Roads.
  • Seguin Services of Cicero and St. John of the Cross in Western Springs are refurbishing a number of homes to be used by hurricane survivors. They need twin beds, double beds, and bedroom dressers or chests of drawers and nightstands, a living room set of furniture would be appreciated too. Anyone wishing to help, donate, work, suggest ideas, anything would be so appreciated. Please call Kathy Heidemann at 708/579-0080 or e-mail kathyheidemann@sbcglobal.net with whatever you can do to help.
  • To donate school supplies, go to www.ebrschools.org (East Baton Rouge Parish Schools). Each schools has an individual website and lists of what each child was supposed to bring to the first day of classes (prior to the hurricane). Supplies can be sent directly to the schools, they will take what they need to help the new kids and then return anything to their warehouse for other schools.

  • The Neighborhood Hurrican Relief Drop-Off Center
    Located at 6165 Northwest Highway (The old Healthmart) on the far northwest side of Chicago
    Is currently taking donations of non-perishable food, clothing, shoes, baby items, school supplies and toys - Drop off hours are mon-fri 8:30am-noon and 3pm-7pm, Saturdays from 8:30am-1pm
  • To help with pet rescue, please visist www.ideasindata.com/katrinapets.htm.
  • Keller-Williams Fox Realty
    is taking donations on behalf of the Jane Addams Hull House, for the Katrina victims.
    They are located at: 4601 N. Western Ave.- Chicago, IL - 773-769-2500
    Open 9-6 M-F and 10-4 Sat/Sun
  • Gift cards to discount stores such as Wal-Mart and CostCo are being collected at the Barrington and Cuba township offices daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Oct. 7. The cards will be used to purchase items for hurricane victims. Call Gene Dawson at Barrington Township at (847) 381-5632 or David Nelson at Cuba Township at (847) 381-1924 for more information.
