* 2005 Kathy & Judy Convention!
* *
Brought to
you by Walgreens, Jiffy Lube, and Champion Windows & Siding
Whether
or not you attended the Kathy and Judy Convention, you can still
benefit from it! We had some great seminars and activities that
we wanted to share with all of you!
Who
was there:
For
the 2005 Kathy & Judy Convention, we had the privilege of
working with the Alzheimer's
Association-Greater Illinois Chapter. You'll be hearing
lots more about our relationship and plans with them in the rest
of the year, but visit
their website to start your own education about the disease,
and what you can do to fight it.
It
wouldn't be a Kathy & Judy Convention without Record-A-Hit!
This is the only activity supplier you need to know -- they have
everything from giant inflatable moonwalks and games to karaoke
stands to caricaturists to carnival games... and more! Record-A-Hit
would be perfect for your party, whether it's for your children,
co-workers, or just because. Visit Record-A-Hit's web page for
a full list of activities, and be ready to be surprised not just
by the great choices, but the great service you get with Record-A-Hit!
As
you know, Kathy & Judy don't know a lot about computers; but
then, we could all stand to learn a little more! That's why OnDeckTech
hosted a seminar. You've heard Gray Rothkopf as part of Steve
& Johnnie's "Cyber Squad" and now you can learn
more from him and his team of Mac and PC experts -- whether it's
learning how to use a program, or why you can't get your computer
to boot up -- you'll want to know OnDeckTech. Call 888/BE-ONDECK
or visit www.ondecktech.com.
We
had a great time watching our closing act at the Convention: the
Windy
City Slickers! They sent us on our way with some
of the most cleverly-written, side-splittingly funny and touching
songs we've ever heard. Be sure to check out future Windy City
Slickers performances, get the scoop on where they'll be by visiting
their upcoming
performances web page and order
some of their CDs so you can see what we mean. We'll be giving
you more details about a June concert, so check back to this web
page for details.
One of our seminars may provide the ideas and inspiration you
need to start your own business. And when that happens, you'll
have the Women's
Business Development Center to thank -- and to rely
on for more help! For 18 years, WBDC has been helping women in
Chicagoland in every phase of getting businesses off the ground
and running strong. And they want to help you! Don't worry if
you missed them at the convention because they often hold seminars
and workshops for entrepreneurs of all levels, including their
JumpStart Your Business workshop series, which gives you the know-how
to turn an idea into a bona fide business. To learn more about
Women's Business Development Center, call 312/853-3477, or visit
www.wbdc.org.
Biofeedback
Image Consultant Dianne
Reddington also joined us at the convention. We first
met Dianne a few years ago, when she introduced us to "aura
photography," a high-tech image that shows your body's electromagnetic
field in vivid color. What does a biofeedback image look like?
That's Dianne's picture, over to the left! Dianne can take your
photograph and interpret your colored chakras and energy fields!
Contact Dianne for your own personal session (or even to hire
her for your conference or convention!), by calling 847/692-4285,
or write her an e-mail at dianneaura1@aol.com.
After a busy day at the convention, Therapeutic Kneads was a great
treat! Hand massages and more will refresh and restore your energy
and state of mind, as licensed therapists rub those worries right
out of your body. You can make same day appointments at Therapeutic
Kneads' Highland Park location (at 480 Elm Place), but they also
make house calls, or can even throw a massage party at your home
or office! Learn more about their massage, skin care and non-surgical
face and body lifts by visiting Therapeutic
Kneads' web page, or by calling 847/266-0131.
She's
made more Kathy & Judy seminar appearances than anyone else.
And there's good reason for it: Northwestern Memorial Hospital
gynecologist Dr. Lauren Streicher gives you crucial health information
in a down-to-earth manner. Fresh off her successful first book,
The
Essential Guide to Hysterectomy: A Gynecologist's Advice on Your
Choices Before, During, and Ater Surgery-Including the Latest
Treatment Options and Alternatives, Dr. Streicher hosted the
seminar called "What's Up Down There?" If you need any
more evidence that she's a perfect speaker for a Kathy & Judy
event, then maybe you do need a check-up.
Who better to teach us a crafty new way to plant our favorite
flowers that the Chicago
Botanic Garden! Horticultural specialist Nancy Clifton created
an extremely cool-looking concrete planter, and even shared
the recipe so you can make one (or 8) of your own at home.
You can also take a class on this very subject, or one of many
others, by calling Chicago Botanic Garden at 847/835-5440.
If
you've never visited Fantasy
Headquarters, it's worth the trip even if you're
not in the market for a costume -- just go for the experience.
The store is the length of a city block, and they have over *a
million* items in stock. For our convention, we needed everything
from a Snow White outfit to a turtle shell to a mouse costume
to dwarf hats... and they had it ALL. You just walk in to Fantasy
Headquarters, and you can't help but get ideas for making things
fun. If you're looking to rent a costume, buy a wig, or find some
sort of supplies to make your play or party a success, go visit
Fantasy Headquarters, at 4065 N. Milwaukee Ave., give them a call
at 800/USA-WIGS, or visit
their website.
*Thanks to all of you who gave blood! If you weren't at the convention
or if you were turned down because you hit the bar before the
activity room...be sure visit LifeSource's
website to find a donor location near you!
*The
Geldner Center set up a "BOTOX® bar,"
providing an opportunity to purchase the wrinkle-treatment injections
at a discounted rate. And boy was it a hit! If you're interested
in getting BOTOX®, be sure to head on over to the Geldner
Center! Remember, bruising may occur if the patient has consumed
any of the following in the past seven days: aspirin (or products
that contain aspirin), vitamin E, omega fish oils, ginkgo biloba
or St. John's wort. If you are pregnant, nursing or allegric to
albumin, or have Eaton-Lambert syndrome, ALS or myasthenia gravis,
you should not have BOTOX.
Thanks
