Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World (Us)FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8TH
THE FIRST WORLD WAR
So much attention has been directed toward the Second World War in this country that the First is often overlooked, both in its conduct and consequences. Yet the Great War may be the most important event of the twentieth century, and may go down as the most influential and tragic event in all history. For its consequences continue to this day: mass death, industrial war, the dehumanization of mankind, the rise of radical political movements, and on and on. All culture and politics changed forever after 1914 and, sadly, nearly all the conflict in the world since (including our present troubles) can in some way be traced back to the period 1914-1918. Tune in tonight for a full review of that tragic conflict, with MARGARET MacMILLAN, author of the new book Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World, and others.
