RealAudio may not work with older versions of America
Online. You may need to upgrade to a newer version of
AOL. Also, in at least one case, a listener found that
AOL's "Parental Controls" needed to be turned
off in order to listen successfully.
Make
sure you've installed the RealPlayer after it has been downloaded.
When it has been successfully installed, the RealPlayer
will play a welcome message. If the RealPlayer does not
automatically open when you click on one of our audio links,
if you get a message about downloading, or if your computer
asks you what program to use to play back the file, your
player may be damaged and may need to be reinstalled.
Your
machine must have a functioning sound card and speakers.
If you are not hearing other sounds (such as the fanfare
when Windows starts, or the "Welcome" greeting
when connecting to AOL) then you may have a problem with
your sound card or speakers.
RealAudio
cannot pass through some corporate firewalls. If you are
using a computer at the office, you may need to consult
your network administrators.
If you
receive an error message that says "Requested file
not found. The link you followed may be outdated or inaccurate,"
it probably means that our server is temporarily down. We
are usually able to restore the feed quickly, although if
the problem is more complex, the feed may be unavailable
for several hours.
If you
receive an error message that says "Server alert. Unable
to fulfill request," it probably means that our feed
has reached capacity. Unlike over-the-air broadcasting,
Real Audio can only support a limited number of simultaneous
listeners. When a listener disconnects, that stream becomes
available to someone else. Check back occasionally to see
if a stream is available.
If you
hear a recorded message saying "we regret that we are
unable to provide live audio streaming at this time,"
it means that we are temporarily not streaming our programming
on the Internet. The most likely reason is that we are broadcasting
a Chicago Cubs game on the air (see
details). There may be other times that we need to turn
off our Internet feed briefly for other reasons.
If you
continue to have problems with the RealPlayer, additional
help is available from service.real.com.
