Dave is the host of WGN Radio’s Saturday Late Night (early Sunday morning) program and is a regular fill-in host. Dave’s first opportunity in radio was in the early 90’s with a weekly sponsored new music show on KLXK in Minneapolis. He spent the first 15 years of his career in the music industry, living in both Minnesota and New York for many of those years, before he came back home to Chicago. He has been a regular presence on WGN Radio as a welcomed guest on Dean Richards Sunday Morning program for the past 8 years, and has made appearances on the WGN Morning News.
Dave’s earliest recollection of listening to WGN Radio was when his father would drive him to school along with the legendary Wally Phillips on the dial, and listening with his grandfather to Chicago Cubs baseball with Jack Brickhouse. Dave has a lifelong passion for the city of Chicago. He has turned his love of the city into a vocation, sharing his expertise regarding the city’s history, people, places and events on radio, television, print and the web.
A native of the Windy City, Dave is also the CEO of Retail First Corp. (a full service marketing firm), and Vice President of The Museum of Broadcast Communications, which includes the National Radio Hall of Fame. Dave has co-curated several museum exhibits on children’s television, as well as countless online features including “We’ll Be Right Back, 60 Years of Television Commercials”. As a television and radio historian, Dave also lectures on the subject of television advertising at Marquette University.
Dave is a nostalgia enthusiast and is an avid Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs fan. He and his wife Lori have three awesome kids and reside in Chicago!
