Hey, Johnny B–heard you were talking 'bout the Cubs and SCC, their new advertising agency. If you'd ever like to talk about things give me a call–Tim Condon 312-464-1666 (the first 'C' in SCC, and also the guy you hung out with in Munich for the Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest way back when–many beers and brain cells ago!)
Happy New Year! Sounds like you're doing well! Love the show!
I've been a listener since Walley was on the air. Lately I've been waking up with a headache. Then I started to watch WGN channel 9 instead listening to the radio. Guess what? No more headaches.
Regarding the hoax on the Notre Dame football player: Some lines need to be drawn on the public's right to know. The Channel 7 guy you had on today may not be an idiot, but his attitude toward the "story" certainly was idiotic. Notre Dame didn't report the incident to law enforcement because no laws were broken they say. He has a problem with that? The coach didn't report it to the administration because they considered it a personal matter. He has a problem with that? It IS a personal matter and it's none of anybody's damn business if the player is embarrassed and wants to keep it as quiet as possible. Then the "newsman" says money was made over the hoax. BS. Neither the player nor the school made a nickel off this as far as I know. There's a term for this kind of reporting — I think it's called "yellow journalism."
Regarding your comment on how men are always screwed during a divorce. I would say a fairer comment would be the bread winner in the relationship is always screwed. I was divorced about 7 years ago and my ex husband had decided to quit his job and sell stuff on ebay about 3 months before I filed for divorce. He also racked up over $50,000 in debt and because I had a good job the judge ordered the debt split 75/25 even though I could prove all that money he spent was on his personal credit cards that I wasn't even on and he also tried for alimony, by the time the almost 2 year process was done he had financially destroyed me. So not only men get screwed in divorce proceeding!
Lady call Johnny B – from South Bend and said she did not like Notre Dame, but wished all the hoopla would go away! Well, where would SB be WITHOUT ND?? No Bendix, No Studebakers, etc. anymore. I worked at ND for 40 years – have a great pension. Both of our children grads of ND – graduated w/o one penny in tuition fees. Now have great jobs!! They received tuition free (my daughter 2/3 1st 2 years since I was not there 10 years–then full tuition) – worked 12 hours/week for that tuition – I loved every minute of my time at ND – I wonder what all those restaurants, motels, etc., would do w/o all the ND fans – and the employees who work there and spend their money in SB!!
us morning folks from northcentral Illinois, down on the Farm, have been listening to WGN for decades. My husband has the radio going at 5:45am because of Orion's former early morning farm report! Old habits die hard. So I hear your songs sometimes as I am in a early morning blurr! But the above song by peggy lee is great! Rock on!
Hey Johnny – You were talking about "Broadway" this morning and someone was playing "The Impossible Dream" song in the background. That had to be Al Melgard playing at the Chicago Stadium organ. Cool song choice ! Too bad they wouldn't move the organ to the new stadium.
hey jb & buzz!. yesterday i went to a lip & palm reading guy at my library. thought you two would find interest in this. mike kett, http://www.LipPrintReading.com, 630-717-8537.
Hey Johnny, you probably already saw this, but here is a follow up to the story of the elderly man who robbed a bank the other day. It's actually kinda sad!
Johnny, glad you and buzz are back together. You guys are just as funny as when I heard you when I was a teenager 30 yrs ago..Your off the tracks and I love it.Keep it up pal.
Johnny…So funny that you would bring up working in Rockford this morning! I worked at that mall in the late 70's in high school. Remember walking down that creepy yellow brick road to the big window on my breaks…What a strange place, but it was the 70's, right?
Hey Johnny, it's Rob from Blarney Island. I'm not sure if you know that we do the dyeing of the Chicago River with the plumber's union every year and have a float in the parade (complete with live band…Ferris Bueler's Day Off style). It is coming up next weekend (Saturday the 16th at 10am is river dyeing and parade at noon). Any interest in joining us to dye the river and/or in the parade? Let me know your thoughts. Rob.Hardman@BlarneyIsland.com
Hey Johnniny B! So happy you're bringing sanity back to the airwaves! No partisan political B.S! Just great entertainment! I forgot what it was like! No anger, no agendas.. just fun! I listen to you between 8:30 and 9:30 and the dial doesn't move. (even through the commercials) All I can say is THANKS DUDE!
Brad B.
Johnny, I was so disappointed not to be able to get through on pie day. My boyfriend likes apple pie more than life itself. You can take his last cigar but DO NOT touch his apple pie. He has had apple pie baked in a bag from Wisconsin several times , Hoosier Mama pie and others. I had only been able to LOOK at them. NO, it doesn't matter if your name is Francis. We are in Joliet so really good pie is hard to find.
WGN's Max Armstrong was in Oklahoma City yesterday. Hear his thoughts on the #tornado and his memories of Plainfield. wgnradio.com/2013/05/21/max…10 hours
