CHICAGO — City high schools prefer birds, at least when it comes to mascot selection.

According to a lengthy list of 162 Chicago public and private high schools from the Illinois High School Association, “Eagles” is the most popular name for a mascot.

Eleven city high schools have Eagles as their mascot, with Panthers, Warriors and Wildcats tying for the runner-up spot with seven each.
