Two Blackhawks suffered injuries prior to the World Cup of Hockey’s official kick off next week.
Forward Marian Hossa logged 10:47 of ice time in a World Cup exhibition game Thursday night but reportedly took a puck to the skate and headed to the hospital for x-rays. The Athletic described the injury as “a bruise and not serious.” Hossa missed the third period of the contest. He later joined Team Europe Thursday night to travel to Montreal.
Friday morning ESPN reported that forward Marcus Kruger missed practice and will not participate in Team Sweden’s second exhibition game vs. Finland on Saturday due to an upper-body injury.
Sweden’s coach Rikard Gronborg said Kruger sitting was “precautionary.”
