Nocturnal Journal 3/7/15: Blues and Brews at River Roast, Toronzo Cannon, “Old Man” bars and rock n’ roll cruises

This week: Executive Chef John Hogan of River Roast (315 N. LaSalle) drops by to talk about his “Blues and Brews Brunch”, which features live blues music from 11am-3pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Speaking of live blues, we get some from Toronzo Cannon and his band.  Cannon also talks about coming up on the South Side and his experience as a CTA bus driver.

We go “Off the Eaten Path” to a few neighborhood watering holes as we celebrate “old man bars” with Eater Chicago’s Daniel Gerzina; Katrina Arthur, manager at Archie’s (2600 W. Iowa in Humboldt Park) and Steven Badauskas of Bernice’s Tavern (3238 S. Halsted).

This week’s Nocturnal Journey deals with cruises- “rock and roll” cruises to be precise.  Photographer Will Byington joins the show to discuss his experience as photographing rock stars and fans on Sixthman Music Cruises.
