After being throttled by the Kings in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals Monday night, the Blackhawks were quite interested in talking about what happened just over a year ago.
It was then the Hawks reeled off three consecutive victories to rally from the brink of elimination against the Red Wings in the second round of the playoffs.
The defending Stanley Cup champions are invoking that fond memory because they find themselves in a similar predicament after being hammered 5-2 by the Kings at the Staples Center. Los Angeles has surged to a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series that will continue with Game 5 on Wednesday night at the United Center.
The Kings dominated in nearly all facets of the game — five-on-five, special teams, faceoffs and blocked shots — to put the Hawks’ bid for consecutive Cups in serious jeopardy.
