Reports of smoke at Elgin FAA Center grounds flights at O’Hare, Midway

UPDATE: Elgin fire officials have determined the source of the smoke to be a faulty motor in the building’s HVAC system. Personnel are being allowed to return to work. As of 3 p.m., a ground stop remains in effect, although limited arrivals and departures have begun at both O’Hare and Midway.
