Morning news anchor will address College of Media 2014 graduates on May 17

Darlas_2306RCHICAGO, April 9, 2014Andrea Darlas is returning to her alma mater as a featured speaker for the University of Illinois College of Media Class of 2014 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 17, 2014. A journalism graduate of 1994, Darlas is now an award-winning news anchor and reporter for WGN Radio and WGN-TV.  She can be heard weekdays on WGN Radio during the Steve Cochran morning show from 5a.m. to 9a.m. and seen on WGN-TV as a weekend freelance reporter and contributor for “House Smarts” with Lou Manfredini.

Darlas has been recognized for her talents in breaking news coverage and investigative series reporting during her 16 year tenure at WGN. She has won a multitude of awards including two prestigious Peter Lisagor Awards and numerous Illinois Broadcasters’ Association Silver Dome Awards. A native Chicagoan, she was previously the News Director and morning anchor at WJOL-AM and WLLI-FM in Joliet, IL before joining WGN Radio full time in 1998.
