DALLAS — By coincidence, the Stanley Cup was in Dallas at the same time as the team trying to defend it.

For much of Friday night’s game against the Stars, the Blackhawks didn’t look much like the club that stormed to the 2013 Cup but, as has been their modus operandi this season, they didn’t let a third-period deficit deter them as they rallied for a 2-1 victory in a lengthy shootout at American Airlines Center.

Whether it was fatigue as a result of playing their sixth of a seven-game trip or merely an off night, the Hawks couldn’t get it together against the Stars until Patrick Sharp scored early in the third to set up the Ben Smith’s winner in the 11th round of the shootout.
