A one-sided parade to the penalty box kept the Blackhawks’ power play in the one place it could do no damage: The bench.

But once the unit did get a chance, it didn’t mess around Saturday night in helping propel the Hawks to a 5-2 victory over the Stars at American Airlines Center.

After five consecutive trips to the box during which their much-maligned penalty killing proved up to the task, the Hawks finally had a man advantage and Patrick Kane took advantage of the open ice to score the winner late in the second period of the battle between Central Division opponents.
