4 dead, 4 hurt when SUV rolls over on I-290 in Addison

Four people died and four others were injured when a Ford Explorer rolled down an embankment and flipped over along Interstate 290 at Illinois Route 83 in Addison this morning, according to the Illinois State Police.

The SUV was carrying eight adults and was headed west on I-290 when it veered off the interstate at Addison Road about 6:15 a.m., according to Addison Deputy Fire Chief Joe  Leone.

Seven people were ejected and one was trapped underneath the silver 2003 SUV, he said. Crews continued to work to free the person as of 8:15 a.m.

Four people were dead on the scene and three other victims were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village and Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Leone said. Their conditions were not known, he said.
