Hi,Nick! I listen to you as I lie in bed, and I'm too lazy to get up to call you, so:
I got a big kick out of the 'required reading' seg early this morning (08/21). I work for the Pearson Company, and read and score the written essay part of the SAT. And I'm contractually probably not supposed to be sending this. Nevertheless…one of the things I've noticed over a number of years of reading the student essays (17 and 18 year olds, maybe 16) is that, virtually without exception, they HATE Holden Caufeld. They think he's an egotistical jerk. What a change from when Catcher in the Rye was first published, and he was a HERO to that (my) generation. Different times, different tastes. Or something.
