A man and woman were found dead in a downtown hotel this afternoon, apparently the result of a double suicide, authorities said.

About 4:20 p.m. a 56-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were found dead together in bed at 301 E. North Water St., both suffering head wounds in an apparent suicide, according to Police News Affairs Office Veejay Zala.

Two handguns were found next to the bed, and the wounds appear to be self-inflicted, Zala said.
