With a balky power play and an inability to solve Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard, the Hawks were shut out for the first time all season in a 2-0 Game 4 loss that thrust them shockingly down 3-1 in this Western Conference semifinal. Game 5 is Saturday at the United Center.

A Jakub Kindl power play goal in the second period was the official game-winner, and Dan Cleary knocked home an empty-net score in the final minute to seal things. Howard, meanwhile, followed a 39-save effort in Game 3 with a 28-save blanking in Game 4.

Howard’s second career playoff shutout also marks the first time the Hawks have lost three straight games all season.
