Police: Woman’s report of Mag Mile robbery unfounded

Chicago police said tonight that a 68-year-old woman’s report that she was surrounded by a group of thugs and robbed of $135,000 in jewelry was not true.

Chicago Police have determined that the robbery is unfounded, according to a police News Affairs statement.

Detectives confronted the victim with inconsistencies between her account of the incident and recovered video and learned that the story was not true, according to the statement.
