Former state Rep. Robin Kelly won the Democratic primary Tuesday night in the race to replace the disgraced Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress, helped by millions of dollars in pro-gun control ads from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s political fund.

A snowstorm and lack of voter interest kept turnout low as Kelly had 53 percent to 24 percent for former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson and 11 percent for Chicago 9th Ward Ald. Anthony Beale with more than three-fourths percent of precincts counted.

Kelly will formally take on the winner of the Republican primary in an April 9 special general election in the heavily Democratic district. In the GOP contest, the nomination fight was tight between convicted felon Paul McKinley, businessman Eric Wallace and talk show host Lenny McAllister.

Kelly framed her win as a victory for gun control forces.

“You sent a message that was heard around our state and across the nation,” Kelly told supporters in a Matteson hotel ballroom. “A message that tells the NRA that their days of holding our country hostage are coming to an end.

After decades of Democratic corruption in the 2nd district, the voters have chosen another Democrat touched by the long arm and deep pockets of Democratic Mayor Bloomberg of New York to be a front runner to clean up corruption in the 2nd district.

Throughout the decades of Democratic leadership, the 2nd district has seen education quality and success decline to unprecedented levels , unemployment rise, opportunities dissolve and criminal activities increase. Not even with the highest tax rates in America, both corporate and personal taxes democratic leadership has been failing the residents within this district.

Robin Kelly is a one issue candidate. Gun Control. She can not stand on her Democratic ideologies to fix the problems caused by previous democratic Congressmen in the 2nd district. Some of which have raided, looted, stole and plundered it placing heavier and unnecessary burdens on the residents and State residents as a whole.

The only way to change the sharp declines in the quality of life in the 2nd district caused by decades of failed Democratic leaders and Congressmen is to elect a Republican. A republican with no ties to the corrupt Democratic machine that has plagued this community and City for over 20 years that continues to this day.

I believe the right republican can make a change to the existing gun laws that also protects the security and rights of individuals to protect themselves and their families, from outside invaders and improve the welfare that holds this community together. By increasing opportunities, employment and empowerment programs, and stabilizing a system that betters the education of their students.

It's already an embarrassment that a majority of voters were willing to keep in place a Democratic Congressman that was under investigation and heavy scrutiny by federal investigators, for fraud, thievery and criminal conduct. But to vote for more of the same with another Corrupt Democrat already bought and paid for would be a shame, when a better solution is so close.

It won't be long until all the media outlets endorse this Bloomberg darling as the savior of the community even though the history of Democratic leadership in the 2nd district has failed it's citizens.

Make that change. Vote Republican and take back your community.
